Google Meet device troubleshooting

Google Meet Speaker Not Working

Prove the output path with a browser-generated test tone, then check Meet's speaker selection, Bluetooth routing and meeting mode.

Evidence first

What the independent test changes

If DeviceOK passes

DeviceOK sound in the same browser indicates the browser/system can reach the output; Meet selection or meeting mode becomes the higher-value next check.

If DeviceOK fails

No DeviceOK sound points toward device/system output rather than Meet alone.

Safe sequence

Check these in order

  1. 1

    Run DeviceOK speaker/headphone test.

  2. 2

In Meet, select the intended speaker/output.

  3. 3

Confirm Bluetooth is connected to the intended audio device.

  4. 4

Check whether Companion mode or device-level mute/volume explains the missing audio.

Verify

Retest instead of guessing

After changing one setting, run the independent DeviceOK test again before moving to a more invasive step. This preserves evidence and avoids changing multiple variables at once.
