Slack Huddle Screen Sharing Not Working

Check whether screen capture is available outside Slack, then verify Slack/OS screen-recording access and huddle state.

Evidence first

What the independent test changes

If DeviceOK passes

A successful DeviceOK screen capture means the OS/browser can expose a screen; Slack may still need its own permission or policy change.

If DeviceOK fails

If DeviceOK cannot request screen capture, solve the OS/browser capture permission first.

Safe sequence

Check these in order

  1. 1

    Run DeviceOK Screen Share Test.

  2. 2

Verify Slack has operating-system screen-recording permission where required.

  3. 3

Restart Slack after permission changes if the OS requires it.

  4. 4

Check huddle permissions/policies if screen sharing remains unavailable.

Verify

Retest instead of guessing

After changing one setting, run the independent DeviceOK test again before moving to a more invasive step. This preserves evidence and avoids changing multiple variables at once.
