Lens, privacy shutter and mount

Inspect the lens for scratches/haze, operate the shutter if present, and confirm the mount/hinge holds position.

Why it matters: Optical or mounting damage can reduce usable quality despite a passing preview.

USB cable/connector stability

Use the supplied or known-good data cable and watch for device reconnects during normal cable positioning.

Why it matters: USB instability can cause frame drops or app disconnects.

Real focus/exposure response

Use DeviceOK's focus/exposure references at normal working distance and lighting; allow autofocus time if the model supports it.

Why it matters: A camera can stream while focus mechanics or exposure control are poor.

Integrated mic vs external mic

Record the webcam microphone specifically if the model has one; ensure the correct input is selected.

Why it matters: Video success does not prove the integrated microphone path.

Second application verification

After DeviceOK passes, verify the camera in the actual meeting/recording app you will use.

Why it matters: A browser pass narrows hardware failure but does not prove app routing or policy configuration.
