Verify detection before changing more settings
Run DeviceOK's webcam test and check Windows camera detection first. If Windows also cannot see the camera, continue with Microsoft's camera troubleshooter and official driver update path.
What to check next
- 1
Check for a physical privacy shutter, camera switch, or disabled camera key.
- 2
Confirm whether the camera appears in Device Manager under Cameras or Imaging devices.
- 3
Use Windows Update or the device maker's official support page for camera driver updates; do not download drivers from third-party mirrors.
- 4
If another app can use the camera, treat the problem as app-specific rather than a total camera detection failure.
Know whether the change worked
After each meaningful change, run the DeviceOK webcam test again. If DeviceOK receives video but one application still fails, move to that application's camera selection and permission path.
