Code 16: Windows cannot identify all the resources this device uses

The device is only partly configured and may require additional resource configuration.

First action

Follow Device Manager and the hardware manufacturer's documentation for resource configuration.

Use the error code as a Windows device-state clue. It does not by itself identify the exact failed component inside the hardware.

Then verify

Do not stop at the code disappearing

    Prefer automatic Plug-and-Play settings where available.

    Use manufacturer guidance before manual resource changes.

After Windows reports the device normally, run the matching DeviceOK test when one exists—for example camera, microphone, keyboard, mouse, controller or audio—to confirm the user-facing function works.
