Code 19: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information is incomplete or damaged

The device's registry/configuration information is incomplete or damaged.

First action

Uninstall/reinstall the device driver using Device Manager and use Windows recovery options only when appropriate.

Use the error code as a Windows device-state clue. It does not by itself identify the exact failed component inside the hardware.

Then verify

Do not stop at the code disappearing

    Retest after Windows rebuilds the device configuration.

    Avoid manual registry edits unless following authoritative device/vendor instructions.

After Windows reports the device normally, run the matching DeviceOK test when one exists—for example camera, microphone, keyboard, mouse, controller or audio—to confirm the user-facing function works.
