Code 48: The software for this device has been blocked because it is known to have problems with Windows

Windows has blocked the current device software/driver as incompatible or problematic.

First action

Get an updated driver/software version from the hardware manufacturer.

Use the error code as a Windows device-state clue. It does not by itself identify the exact failed component inside the hardware.

Then verify

Do not stop at the code disappearing

    Confirm it supports your Windows version.

    Do not bypass driver protections using unknown unsigned packages.

After Windows reports the device normally, run the matching DeviceOK test when one exists—for example camera, microphone, keyboard, mouse, controller or audio—to confirm the user-facing function works.
